Artist Bio:
Gene Chandler, born Eugene Dixon in 1937, is an American singer known for his success in the 1960s and 1970s. He is often referred to as the "Duke of Earl" after his hit song of the same name reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1962. Chandler's smooth and soulful voice made him a prominent figure in the Chicago soul music scene, where he recorded for the Vee-Jay and Constellation record labels. He continued to release successful singles throughout the 1960s, including "Rainbow" and "Groovy Situation."


In addition to his singing career, Gene Chandler also worked as a record producer and songwriter. He was inducted into the Rhythm and Blues Music Hall of Fame in 2015 in recognition of his contributions to the genre. Chandler's music continues to be celebrated by fans of soul and R&B, and his songs have been featured in various films, TV shows, and commercials over the years.
