Gene Chandler, born Eugene Dixon in 1937, is an American singer known for his success in the music industry during the 1960s and 1970s. He is best known for his hit song "Duke of Earl," which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1962. Chandler was also a member of the Doo-Wop group The Dukays before pursuing a solo career.
Throughout his career, Gene Chandler released numerous albums and singles, with many of his songs charting on the Billboard R&B and Pop charts. Some of his other popular songs include "Groovy Situation" and "Rainbow." Chandler's soulful voice and charismatic stage presence have earned him a place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He continues to perform and remains a respected figure in the music industry.
