He continued to release music throughout the 1960s and 1970s, scoring hits like "24 Hours from Tulsa" and "I'm Gonna Be Strong". Pitney was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002 and continued to perform and record music until his untimely death in 2006 at the age of 65.
