Gene Simmons is an Israeli-American musician, singer, and songwriter best known as the co-founder and bassist of the rock band KISS. Born Chaim Witz on August 25, 1949, in Tirat Carmel, Israel, Simmons moved to the United States with his family at a young age. He adopted the stage name Gene Simmons as a tribute to rockabilly performer Jumpin' Gene Simmons.


Simmons is known for his flamboyant stage presence, iconic makeup, and demon persona in KISS. The band rose to fame in the 1970s with hits like "Rock and Roll All Nite" and "Detroit Rock City." Apart from his music career, Simmons has also appeared in films and television shows, and he is a successful entrepreneur with ventures in various industries, including a reality TV show, a record label, and a restaurant chain.
