Genesis is an English rock band formed in 1967 by Peter Gabriel, Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford, Anthony Phillips, and Chris Stewart. The band gained popularity in the 1970s and 1980s with their progressive rock sound, elaborate stage shows, and theatrical performances. Peter Gabriel left the band in 1975 and was replaced by Phil Collins as the lead vocalist. Genesis continued to enjoy commercial success with hits such as "Invisible Touch" and "I Can't Dance."
Throughout their career, Genesis released numerous albums, including "Selling England by the Pound," "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway," and "Genesis." The band was known for their complex compositions, innovative use of synthesizers, and storytelling lyrics. Genesis was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010. Despite lineup changes over the years, the band has maintained a dedicated fan base and continues to be recognized as one of the most influential rock bands in music history.
