Genesis is a British rock band formed in 1967 in Godalming, Surrey. The band's original lineup consisted of Peter Gabriel, Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford, Anthony Phillips, and Chris Stewart. Over the years, the band underwent several lineup changes, with Phil Collins eventually taking over as lead vocalist after Gabriel's departure in 1975. Genesis is known for their progressive rock sound, incorporating elements of pop, folk, and art rock into their music.
Throughout their career, Genesis achieved commercial success with hit songs like "Invisible Touch" and "Land of Confusion." They have released several critically acclaimed albums, including "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway" and "Selling England by the Pound." Genesis was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010. Despite going on hiatus in the 2000s, the band reunited for a successful tour in 2007 and 2008.
