George Hamilton IV was an American country music singer and guitarist. He was born on July 19, 1937, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and passed away on September 17, 2014, in Nashville, Tennessee. Hamilton started his music career in the late 1950s and was known for his smooth vocals and heartfelt lyrics. He was a pioneer of the Nashville Sound, a subgenre of country music that emerged in the 1950s and emphasized pop and jazz influences.


Hamilton had a successful career with numerous hits on the country music charts, including "Before This Day Ends," "Abilene," and "Break My Mind." He was also a member of the Grand Ole Opry, a weekly country music stage concert in Nashville. Throughout his career, Hamilton recorded over 40 albums and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2014. He is remembered as a talented artist who made significant contributions to the country music genre.
