Gerardo Mejía, known simply as Gerardo, is a Ecuadorian-American rapper, singer, and actor. He was born on April 16, 1965, in Guayaquil, Ecuador, and later moved to the United States where he pursued his music career. Gerardo is best known for his hit single "Rico Suave," which was released in 1991 and became a major success, reaching the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
In addition to his music career, Gerardo has also appeared in several films and television shows, including "Can't Buy Me Love" and "Colors." He is considered one of the pioneers of the Latin hip-hop and rap movement in the United States and has continued to release music and perform over the years.
