Gerry and the Pacemakers were a British beat group prominent during the 1960s British Invasion. The band was formed in Liverpool, England, in 1959 by Gerry Marsden, his brother Fred Marsden, Les Chadwick, and Arthur McMahon. They were managed by Brian Epstein, who also managed The Beatles, and were signed to the same record label, Parlophone Records.
Gerry and the Pacemakers achieved success with their first three singles, including their hit song "How Do You Do It?" which reached number one on the UK Singles Chart in 1963. They also had other popular songs such as "I Like It" and "You'll Never Walk Alone." The band disbanded in 1966, but they left a lasting impact on the music industry and are remembered as one of the leading bands of the Merseybeat era.
