Gerry and the Pacemakers were a British beat group from Liverpool, England, formed in 1959. The group was composed of lead singer Gerry Marsden, his brother Fred Marsden on drums, Les Chadwick on bass, and Arthur Mack on piano. They were managed by Brian Epstein, who also managed The Beatles.
The band achieved significant success in the 1960s with hits such as "How Do You Do It?", "I Like It", and their most famous song, "Ferry Cross the Mersey". They were the second group to sign with the Beatles' label, Parlophone. Gerry and the Pacemakers were known for their catchy melodies, harmonies, and Gerry Marsden's distinctive voice. They were part of the Merseybeat sound that emerged from Liverpool alongside fellow bands like The Beatles and The Searchers.
