He later formed the band Stealers Wheel, achieving success with their song "Stuck in the Middle with You" in 1972.
Rafferty's solo career took off in the late 1970s with the release of his album "City to City," which featured the iconic song "Baker Street." The album reached number one on the Billboard 200 chart and solidified Rafferty's status as a prominent singer-songwriter. Throughout his career, Rafferty continued to release music and perform, gaining a dedicated fan base. He passed away on January 4, 2011, leaving behind a legacy of timeless music that continues to resonate with audiences worldwide.
