Gerry Rafferty was a Scottish singer-songwriter best known for his hits "Baker Street" and "Stuck in the Middle with You." Born on April 16, 1947, in Paisley, Scotland, Rafferty began his music career in the 1960s as a member of the folk-pop group The Humblebums alongside Billy Connolly. He later formed the band Stealers Wheel, achieving success with their song "Stuck in the Middle with You" in 1972.

Rafferty's solo career took off in the late 1970s with the release of his album "City to City," which featured the iconic song "Baker Street." The album reached number one on the Billboard 200 chart and solidified Rafferty's status as a prominent singer-songwriter.
