Gladys Knight and The Pips were an American R&B/soul group that formed in Atlanta, Georgia in 1952. The group consisted of lead singer Gladys Knight along with her brother Merald "Bubba" Knight and cousins Edward Patten and William Guest. They achieved commercial success in the 1960s and 1970s with hits such as "Midnight Train to Georgia," "If I Were Your Woman," and "I Heard It Through the Grapevine."


Gladys Knight and The Pips were known for their smooth harmonies, soulful vocals, and dynamic stage performances. They won multiple Grammy Awards and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996. The group disbanded in 1989, and Gladys Knight continued to have a successful solo career.
