Gladys Knight And The Pips were an American R&B/soul group that formed in Atlanta, Georgia in 1952. The group consisted of lead vocalist Gladys Knight and her backing singers/bandmates, the Pips, which included her brother Merald "Bubba" Knight and her cousins Edward Patten and William Guest. Known for their smooth harmonies and dynamic stage presence, they were one of the most successful and enduring groups in the genre.
Gladys Knight And The Pips scored numerous hits throughout the 1960s and 1970s, including "Midnight Train to Georgia," "If I Were Your Woman," and "Neither One of Us (Wants to Be the First to Say Goodbye)." They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996. Despite going their separate ways in the late 1980s, Gladys Knight And The Pips left a lasting legacy in the world of R&B and soul music.
