Gladys Knight and The Pips were an American R&B/soul group that formed in Atlanta, Georgia in 1952. The group consisted of lead singer Gladys Knight along with her brother Merald "Bubba" Knight and their cousins Edward Patten and William Guest. Known for their smooth harmonies and powerful vocals, they achieved commercial success during the 1960s and 1970s.


Gladys Knight and The Pips released a number of hits throughout their career, including "Midnight Train to Georgia," "If I Were Your Woman," and "Neither One of Us (Wants to Be the First to Say Goodbye)." They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996 and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2001. The group disbanded in 1989, with Gladys Knight continuing her successful career as a solo artist.
