Gladys Knight and The Pips were an American R&B/soul group that formed in Atlanta, Georgia in 1952. The group's lineup consisted of lead vocalist Gladys Knight and her backing singers/brother Merald "Bubba" Knight and cousins Edward Patten and William Guest. They achieved commercial success in the 1960s and 1970s with hits like "Midnight Train to Georgia," "Neither One of Us (Wants to Be the First to Say Goodbye)," and "If I Were Your Woman."
Gladys Knight and The Pips were known for their smooth harmonies, captivating performances, and dynamic stage presence. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996 and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2001. The group disbanded in 1989, and Gladys Knight continued her successful career as a solo artist.
