Gladys Knight and The Pips were an American R&B/soul group formed in Atlanta, Georgia in 1952. The group comprised of lead singer Gladys Knight along with her brother Merald "Bubba" Knight and their cousins Edward Patten and William Guest. They achieved commercial success in the 1960s and 1970s with hits such as "Midnight Train to Georgia," "If I Were Your Woman," and "Neither One of Us (Wants to Be the First to Say Goodbye)."


Gladys Knight and The Pips were known for their smooth harmonies and dynamic performances, with Gladys Knight's powerful vocals leading the group to fame. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996 and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2001. The group disbanded in 1989, and Gladys Knight continued her successful solo career, while The Pips pursued other ventures.
