Gladys Knight and The Pips were an American R&B/soul group that achieved widespread success in the 1960s and 1970s. The group was fronted by lead singer Gladys Knight and backed by her brother Merald "Bubba" Knight and cousins Edward Patten and William Guest. Known for their smooth harmonies and energetic performances, Gladys Knight and The Pips released several hit singles, including "Midnight Train to Georgia," "If I Were Your Woman," and "I Heard It Through the Grapevine."


The group won several Grammy Awards and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996. They also had a successful career in television, appearing on shows like "Soul Train" and "American Bandstand." After disbanding in the late 1980s, Gladys Knight continued to have a successful solo career, while The Pips pursued other ventures.
