Gladys Knight and the Pips were an American R&B/soul music group that enjoyed success from the 1960s to the 1980s. The group was fronted by Gladys Knight, known for her powerful and soulful voice, with backing vocals provided by her brother Merald "Bubba" Knight and their cousins Edward Patten and William Guest. They were known for their smooth harmonies and energetic live performances.


Gladys Knight and the Pips scored numerous hits on the Billboard charts, including "Midnight Train to Georgia," "If I Were Your Woman," and "Neither One of Us (Wants to Be the First to Say Goodbye)." They won several Grammy Awards and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996. The group's music continues to be influential in the R&B and soul genres, with Gladys Knight often referred to as the "Empress of Soul."
