Gladys Knight and The Pips were an American R&B/soul group that was formed in Atlanta, Georgia in 1952. The group's members consisted of lead singer Gladys Knight and her backup singers, known as The Pips, which included her brother Merald "Bubba" Knight and their cousins Edward Patten and William Guest.
Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, Gladys Knight and The Pips achieved great success with hits such as "Midnight Train to Georgia," "Neither One of Us (Wants to Be the First to Say Goodbye)," and "If I Were Your Woman." They were known for their soulful harmonies and Knight's powerful vocals. The group won several Grammy Awards and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996. Gladys Knight and The Pips disbanded in 1989, and Gladys Knight continued her successful music career as a solo artist.
