Gladys Knight and The Pips were an American R&B/soul group that formed in Atlanta, Georgia in 1952. The group consisted of lead singer Gladys Knight along with her brother Merald "Bubba" Knight and cousins William Guest and Edward Patten. They achieved commercial success in the 1960s and 1970s with hits like "Midnight Train to Georgia," "Neither One of Us (Wants to Be the First to Say Goodbye)," and "If I Were Your Woman."
Known for their smooth harmonies and powerful vocals, Gladys Knight and The Pips won several Grammy Awards and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996. They were also known for their energetic live performances and dynamic stage presence. The group disbanded in 1989, but their music continues to be celebrated and remembered as a significant contribution to the soul music genre.
