The group consisted of lead singer Gladys Knight and her backing vocalists/brother Merald "Bubba" Knight and cousins Edward Patten and William Guest. They achieved commercial success in the 1960s and 1970s with hits like "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" and "Midnight Train to Georgia."
Gladys Knight and The Pips were known for their smooth harmonies, powerful vocals, and dynamic stage performances. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996 and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2001. The group disbanded in 1989, with Gladys Knight pursuing a successful solo career.
