Glen Campbell was an American singer, songwriter, and actor born on April 22, 1936, in Billstown, Arkansas. He gained fame for his country and pop music hits in the 1960s and 1970s. Campbell released over 70 albums and sold more than 45 million records worldwide. He is best known for songs such as "Rhinestone Cowboy," "Gentle on My Mind," and "Wichita Lineman." Campbell was also a highly accomplished guitarist and a member of the famed group of session musicians known as "The Wrecking Crew."
In addition to his successful music career, Glen Campbell also appeared in several movies and television shows, most notably hosting "The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour" on CBS from 1969 to 1972. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2005 and received numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. Glen Campbell passed away on August 8, 2017, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
