Glen Campbell was an American singer, songwriter, and actor born on April 22, 1936, in Billstown, Arkansas. He rose to fame in the 1960s and 1970s with a string of hit songs such as "Rhinestone Cowboy," "Wichita Lineman," and "Gentle on My Mind." Campbell was known for his smooth voice, country music sound, and crossover success into pop music. He also had a successful career as a session musician before becoming a solo artist, playing on recordings for artists such as Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, and The Beach Boys.
In addition to his music career, Campbell also appeared in films and television shows, including his own variety show, "The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour." He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2005 and received numerous awards throughout his career. Campbell continued to perform and record music until his retirement in 2012. He passed away on August 8, 2017, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
