Glen Campbell was an American singer, songwriter, and actor born on April 22, 1936, in Billstown, Arkansas. He rose to fame in the 1960s and 1970s with a string of hit songs that crossed over from country to pop, including "Rhinestone Cowboy," "Wichita Lineman," and "Gentle on My Mind." Campbell was known for his smooth voice, guitar skills, and versatility in various music genres.
In addition to his successful music career, Campbell also appeared in several films and television shows. He starred in the popular television variety show "The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour" from 1969 to 1972 and acted in movies like "True Grit" alongside John Wayne. Campbell was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2005 and continued to perform and record music until his passing on August 8, 2017, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
