Glen Campbell was an American singer, songwriter, and actor, born on April 22, 1936, in Billstown, Arkansas. He rose to fame in the 1960s and 1970s with a series of hit songs that crossed over from country to pop music charts. Campbell released more than 70 albums and sold over 45 million records worldwide during his career. He is best known for songs like "Rhinestone Cowboy," "Wichita Lineman," and "Gentle on My Mind." Campbell won numerous awards, including multiple Grammy Awards, Country Music Association Awards, and American Music Awards.
In addition to his music career, Campbell also appeared in films and television shows, including the popular television variety show "The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour." He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2005 and continued to perform and record music until his retirement in 2013. Campbell passed away on August 8, 2017, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
