Gogi Grant was an American singer born on September 20, 1924, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as Myrtle Audrey Arinsberg. She is best known for her 1956 hit song "The Wayward Wind," which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Grant began her singing career in the 1940s, performing with various big bands before signing with RCA Victor in the 1950s.
In addition to "The Wayward Wind," Grant had other charting singles such as "Suddenly There's a Valley" and "Strange Are the Ways of Love." She also appeared in films and television shows, including "The Big Beat" and "The Dinah Shore Chevy Show." Gogi Grant's music career spanned several decades, and she continued to perform live and record music until her retirement in the 1980s. Grant passed away on March 10, 2016, at the age of 91.
