The Goo Goo Dolls are an American rock band formed in 1986 in Buffalo, New York. The band consists of guitarist and vocalist John Rzeznik, bassist and vocalist Robby Takac, and drummer George Tutuska (who was later replaced by Mike Malinin). The Goo Goo Dolls achieved mainstream success in the mid-1990s with their hit single "Name" from the album "A Boy Named Goo" released in 1995. They further solidified their popularity with the release of their album "Dizzy Up the Girl" in 1998, which included the hit singles "Iris" and "Slide."


The Goo Goo Dolls have continued to release new music and tour extensively throughout their career. They have received multiple Grammy Award nominations and have sold over 12 million albums worldwide. The band's music is characterized by their melodic rock sound and introspective lyrics, making them a prominent figure in the alternative rock genre.
