The Goo Goo Dolls are an American rock band formed in 1986 in Buffalo, New York. The band consists of three members: John Rzeznik (vocals, guitar), Robby Takac (vocals, bass), and George Tutuska (drums) who was later replaced by Mike Malinin. The Goo Goo Dolls gained mainstream success with their 1995 album "A Boy Named Goo," which included the hit single "Name."
Their biggest commercial success came with their 1998 album "Dizzy Up the Girl," which featured the hit singles "Iris" and "Slide." "Iris" in particular became one of the band's most popular and iconic songs, reaching the top of the charts and earning multiple award nominations. Over the years, the Goo Goo Dolls have continued to release music and tour extensively, maintaining a loyal fan base and solidifying their place in the alternative rock genre.
