Grand Funk Railroad is an American rock band formed in 1969 in Flint, Michigan. The band's original lineup consisted of Mark Farner (vocals, guitar), Don Brewer (drums), and Mel Schacher (bass). They were known for their energetic live performances and hard rock sound, often referred to as "the American Band."
Grand Funk Railroad achieved commercial success in the early 1970s with hits such as "We're an American Band," "Some Kind of Wonderful," and "The Loco-Motion." They released a total of 13 studio albums, with five of them certified gold by the RIAA. Despite changes in their lineup over the years, Grand Funk Railroad continued to tour and perform, solidifying their status as one of the iconic rock bands of the 1970s.
