Grand Puba, born Maxwell Dixon on March 4, 1966, in New Rochelle, New York, is an American rapper and member of the influential hip-hop group Brand Nubian. He first gained recognition in the late 1980s as a member of the group Masters of Ceremony before forming Brand Nubian in 1989. Grand Puba is known for his smooth flow, clever wordplay, and socially conscious lyrics, often addressing issues of race, politics, and urban life in his music.


As a solo artist, Grand Puba released his debut album "Reel to Reel" in 1992, which included the hit single "360 Degrees (What Goes Around)." He followed up with the albums "2000" in 1995 and "Understand This" in 2001. Throughout his career, Grand Puba has collaborated with various artists, including Mary J. Blige, Common, and KRS-One, and continues to perform and release music, maintaining his status as a respected figure in the hip-hop community.
