Artist Bio:
Grapefruit was a conceptual art collective formed in 1960 by Yoko Ono and her then-husband, artist Toshi Ichiyanagi. The group was based in New York City and was known for their experimental and avant-garde art practices. Grapefruit's work often incorporated elements of performance art, music, film, and visual art, pushing the boundaries of traditional art forms.
One of Grapefruit's most notable projects was the publication of a book titled "Grapefruit" in 1964. The book contained a series of conceptual art instructions and ideas for the reader to carry out, blurring the lines between art and everyday life. Yoko Ono's involvement in Grapefruit is often credited with influencing the Fluxus movement and the development of conceptual art in the 1960s and beyond.
