Greg Lake was an English musician and songwriter, best known as the bassist, guitarist, and singer for the progressive rock bands King Crimson and Emerson, Lake & Palmer (ELP). He was born on November 10, 1947, in Dorset, England, and sadly passed away on December 7, 2016. Lake's distinctive voice and skillful bass playing were key elements of the sound of both King Crimson and ELP, two influential bands in the progressive rock genre.
Lake achieved commercial success with ELP in the 1970s, producing hit albums such as "Tarkus" and "Brain Salad Surgery." He is also known for his holiday song "I Believe in Father Christmas," which remains a classic seasonal favorite. In addition to his work with King Crimson and ELP, Lake released several solo albums and continued to perform and record music throughout his career.
