He is best known for his instrumental piece "The Homecoming," which was released in 1975 and became a major hit in Canada, earning Hardy a Juno Award for Composer of the Year. Hardy's music is characterized by its melodic and soothing qualities, often blending elements of classical, jazz, and pop.
In addition to "The Homecoming," Hardy released over 20 albums throughout his career, exploring a wide range of musical styles and genres. He was also a successful composer for film and television, scoring music for productions such as "Anne of Green Gables" and "The National Dream." Hardy continued to perform and compose music until his passing on January 1, 1997, leaving behind a legacy of beautiful and timeless music.
