Happy Mondays were a British alternative rock band formed in Salford in 1980. The band's lineup consisted of Shaun Ryder (vocals), Mark Day (guitar), Paul Ryder (bass), Gary Whelan (drums), Paul Davis (keyboard), and Bez (dancer and percussionist). They were known for their unique blend of indie rock, funk, and acid house music.
The band rose to prominence in the late 1980s and early 1990s with their hit albums such as "Bummed" and "Pills 'n' Thrills and Bellyaches." Happy Mondays were a key part of the Madchester music scene in Manchester, alongside bands like The Stone Roses and Inspiral Carpets. The band's music and hedonistic lifestyle became synonymous with the rave culture of the time. Happy Mondays disbanded in 1993 but reunited in 2012 for a series of live shows.
