Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes were an American R&B/Soul group formed in Philadelphia in the 1950s. The group was originally known as The Charlemagnes but changed their name to Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes in the late 1960s. The group's original lineup consisted of lead singer Harold Melvin, Teddy Pendergrass, Bernard Wilson, Lawrence Brown, and Lloyd Parks.


Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes achieved commercial success in the 1970s with hits like "If You Don't Know Me by Now" and "The Love I Lost." The group was known for their smooth harmonies and soulful sound, with Teddy Pendergrass's powerful vocals standing out as a defining feature of their music. Despite lineup changes over the years, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes continued to record and perform until the early 2000s.
