Artist Bio:
Harry Chapin was an American singer-songwriter known for his folk rock music and storytelling lyrics. He was born on December 7, 1942, in New York City and tragically passed away in a car accident on July 16, 1981, at the age of 38. Chapin released eleven albums during his career, with his most famous songs including "Cat's in the Cradle," "Taxi," and "W.O.L.D."


Aside from his music career, Chapin was also a dedicated humanitarian and philanthropist. He co-founded the organization World Hunger Year (now WhyHunger) in 1975, which aimed to end global hunger and poverty. Chapin was posthumously awarded the Congressional Gold Medal for his humanitarian work in 1987. His legacy continues to live on through his music and charitable contributions.
