Harry Chapin was an American singer-songwriter known for his storytelling lyrics and folk rock music. He was born on December 7, 1942, in New York City, and sadly passed away on July 16, 1981, at the age of 38 in a car accident. Chapin released 11 albums during his career, with his most famous songs including "Cat's in the Cradle," "Taxi," and "W*O*L*D." He was also known for his philanthropic work, founding the organization World Hunger Year to raise awareness about global hunger issues.


Chapin was posthumously awarded a Special Congressional Gold Medal in 1987 for his humanitarian work and contributions to the music industry. His music continues to be celebrated for its emotional depth and social commentary, and he is remembered as a talented artist who used his platform to advocate for social change.
