Harry Chapin was an American singer-songwriter known for his folk rock music. He was born on December 7, 1942, in New York City and tragically passed away on July 16, 1981, at the age of 38 in a car accident. Chapin released 11 albums during his career, with his most famous songs including "Cat's in the Cradle" and "Taxi." He was known for his storytelling lyrics and socially conscious themes, often drawing attention to issues such as poverty and hunger.


In addition to his music career, Chapin was also a humanitarian and philanthropist. He co-founded the organization World Hunger Year (now known as WhyHunger) in 1975, which aimed to fight against hunger and poverty around the world. Chapin's legacy lives on through his music and his charitable efforts, as he used his platform to raise awareness about important social issues.
