Helen Reddy was an Australian-American singer, actress, and activist who was born on October 25, 1941, in Melbourne, Australia. She is best known for her empowering and iconic feminist anthem "I Am Woman," which became a rallying cry for the women's liberation movement in the 1970s. The song earned her a Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance in 1973.
Reddy had a successful music career with several other hits, including "Delta Dawn," "Angie Baby," and "You and Me Against the World." She released a total of 18 studio albums and had 15 singles reach the Top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In addition to her music career, Reddy also ventured into acting, appearing in films and television shows. She retired from performing in 2002 but made a brief comeback in 2012. Helen Reddy passed away on September 29, 2020, leaving behind a lasting legacy as a pioneer for women in the music industry.
