Herb Alpert is an American musician, record producer, and philanthropist, born on March 31, 1935, in Los Angeles, California. He is best known for his work as a trumpeter and the leader of the Tijuana Brass, a group that popularized the "Latin pop" genre in the 1960s. Alpert achieved great success with the Tijuana Brass, earning multiple Grammy Awards and producing hit songs such as "A Taste of Honey" and "Spanish Flea."

In addition to his music career, Herb Alpert is also a successful record executive and co-founder of A&M Records, one of the most successful independent record labels in history. He has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and received the National Medal of Arts in recognition of his contributions to the music industry. Alpert continues to be active in music and philanthropy, supporting various charitable causes through his Herb Alpert Foundation.
