Herb Alpert is an accomplished American musician, composer, and record label executive. He was born on March 31, 1935, in Los Angeles, California. Alpert is best known for his work as a trumpet player and the leader of the band Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass. The group achieved widespread success in the 1960s with hits like "A Taste of Honey" and "Spanish Flea."
In addition to his music career, Herb Alpert co-founded A&M Records in 1962 with business partner Jerry Moss. The record label became one of the most successful independent labels in the music industry, launching the careers of artists such as The Carpenters, Janet Jackson, and Sting. Alpert has won multiple Grammy Awards for his music and has also been recognized for his philanthropic efforts, supporting arts education through his Herb Alpert Foundation.
