Herb Alpert is an American musician, composer, and record producer who was born on March 31, 1935, in Los Angeles, California. He is best known for being the leader of the Tijuana Brass, a popular instrumental group in the 1960s. Alpert achieved success with hits like "A Taste of Honey" and "Spanish Flea," and his music is characterized by its upbeat, Latin-inspired sound.
In addition to his music career, Herb Alpert is also a successful businessman, having co-founded A&M Records in 1962 with Jerry Moss. A&M Records went on to become one of the largest independent record labels in the world, launching the careers of artists like The Carpenters, Janet Jackson, and Sheryl Crow. In recognition of his contributions to the music industry, Alpert was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006.
