Herb Alpert is an American musician, composer, and record label executive who was born on March 31, 1935. He is best known for his work as a trumpet player and the leader of the Tijuana Brass, a popular instrumental group in the 1960s. Alpert's music is characterized by its upbeat, catchy melodies and a mix of Latin and jazz influences.
In addition to his successful music career, Alpert co-founded A&M Records with business partner Jerry Moss in 1962. The record label became one of the most successful independent labels in the music industry, signing artists like The Carpenters, Janet Jackson, and Sting. Alpert has won multiple Grammy Awards for his music and received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Recording Academy in 2007.
