Ice-T, born Tracy Lauren Marrow on February 16, 1958, is an American rapper, actor, and songwriter. He is considered one of the pioneers of gangsta rap and is known for his gritty lyrics and socially conscious themes. Ice-T released his debut album, "Rhyme Pays," in 1987, which was the first hip-hop album to carry a parental advisory sticker due to its explicit content. He achieved mainstream success with his albums "Power" and "The Iceberg/Freedom of Speech... Just Watch What You Say" in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Aside from his music career, Ice-T has also found success as an actor, starring in films such as "New Jack City" and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," where he played Detective Odafin Tutuola for over 20 years. Ice-T has also authored several books, including his autobiography "Ice: A Memoir of Gangster Life and RedemptionΓÇöfrom South Central to Hollywood." Throughout his career, Ice-T has been recognized for his contributions to the music and entertainment industry and continues to be a prominent figure in hip-hop culture.
