Artist Bio:
Iron Butterfly is an American rock band formed in San Diego, California in 1966. The band is best known for their 17-minute epic song "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida," which was released in 1968. The song's success helped the band's album of the same name reach multi-platinum status. Iron Butterfly's music is often categorized as psychedelic rock, featuring heavy guitar riffs, extended instrumental solos, and experimental sound effects.
The band experienced several lineup changes throughout its career, with vocalist and keyboardist Doug Ingle being the only constant member. Despite their initial success with "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida," Iron Butterfly struggled to replicate the same level of commercial success with subsequent albums. However, they remain a significant part of the late 1960s psychedelic rock scene and have influenced many artists in the genre.
