He is best known for his work in soul music, particularly for his influential albums in the 1970s. Hayes gained widespread recognition for his iconic album "Hot Buttered Soul" released in 1969, which featured his signature deep, smooth voice and innovative arrangements. He won critical acclaim and commercial success for his soundtrack for the 1971 film "Shaft," which included the hit song "Theme from Shaft" that won him an Academy Award for Best Original Song.


Apart from his music career, Isaac Hayes was also a prolific actor, known for his roles in films such as "Escape from New York" and "Hustle & Flow," as well as his voice work on the animated TV show "South Park." Hayes' impact on soul music and popular culture continues to be celebrated, and he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002. Hayes passed away on August 10, 2008, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the music industry.
