Isaac Hayes was an American singer, songwriter, actor, and producer who was born on August 20, 1942, in Covington, Tennessee. He was best known for his soulful music, particularly his work in the genre of soul and R&B. Hayes gained widespread recognition for his critically acclaimed album "Hot Buttered Soul" in 1969, which includes the popular song "Walk on By." He also achieved success with his album "Shaft" in 1971, which won him an Academy Award for Best Original Song for the theme from the film "Shaft."
In addition to his music career, Isaac Hayes also made a name for himself as an actor. He is perhaps most famous for his role as the character Chef in the animated television series "South Park." Hayes was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002 and his contributions to music continue to be celebrated and remembered. Isaac Hayes passed away on August 10, 2008, in Memphis, Tennessee at the age of 65.
