Artist Bio:
Isaac Hayes was an American singer, songwriter, actor, and producer who was born on August 20, 1942, in Covington, Tennessee. He rose to fame in the late 1960s and 1970s as a soul and funk artist, known for his smooth, deep voice and innovative musical style. Hayes released several successful albums during his career, including the critically acclaimed "Hot Buttered Soul" and "Shaft," which won him an Academy Award for Best Original Song for the theme from the film of the same name.


In addition to his music career, Hayes also had success as an actor, appearing in films such as "Escape from New York" and "Hustle & Flow," as well as lending his voice to the character of Chef on the animated television show "South Park." Isaac Hayes was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002 and remained a respected figure in the music industry until his death on August 10, 2008, in Memphis, Tennessee.
