J. Blackfoot, whose real name was John Colbert, was an American soul singer born on November 20, 1946, in Greenville, Mississippi. He began his music career in the 1960s as a member of the R&B group The Soul Children, where he gained recognition for his powerful and soulful vocals. The group released several successful albums and singles, including the hit song "I'll Be the Other Woman."


In the 1980s, J. Blackfoot embarked on a solo career and achieved further success with his solo albums, including "City Slicker" and "U-Turn." He is best known for his 1983 hit single "Taxi," which reached the top of the Billboard R&B charts. J. Blackfoot continued to record and perform throughout his career, earning a reputation as a talented and charismatic performer in the soul and R&B music industry. He passed away on November 30, 2011, leaving behind a legacy of soulful music that continues to be celebrated by fans of the genre.
