Artist Bio

Artist Bio:
Jack Scott was an American-Canadian singer and songwriter who rose to fame in the late 1950s with a series of hit songs in the rock and roll and rockabilly genres. Born Giovanni Domenico Scafone Jr. on January 24, 1936, in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, Scott began his music career in Detroit, Michigan, where he recorded his first single, "Leroy," in 1957. He achieved commercial success with songs like "My True Love," "Goodbye Baby," and "The Way I Walk," which all reached the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Scott's music was known for its fusion of rockabilly, country, and R&B influences, and his powerful, distinctive voice set him apart from other artists of the time. Despite his success in the late 1950s and early 1960s, Scott's career waned with the rise of the British Invasion, and he eventually shifted his focus to country music. Jack Scott continued to perform and record music throughout his life, and he was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2011. He passed away on December 12, 2019, at the age of 83.
